We the “Human Beings” the best creation of God, living in an era where materials hold more importance and significance than emotions. Today the word humanity holds just a mere place in sum corner of a dictionary or the long, word do speeches of great politicians. How well are we rooted and grounded with the principles and preaching’s of Humanity. How much do we care about fellow brothers and their heart wrenching conditions? Is it our heart that is stoned or we are lost in achieving and conquering worldly desires. As we sleep in our comfy beds every single nights, the mothers in Iraq cry over the loss of their sons in bombings. We crave for the delicacies of 5 star restaurants when a kid in Sudan sobs for a piece of bread. We creep for big bungalows and luxurious pent house when lakhs of Syrians are turning into refugees. We long for designer clothes when a girl in Pakistan is raped by Taliban. And then the question arises has humanity failed or suffered silent death?
If we travel down the memory lane of by gone history, 1400 years back we witness a man standing firm against oppression. Ready to sacrifice his life, family for oppressed and cultivate the values of humanity for the entire generation of mankind.
Imam Hussain (A.S.) said “I only desire to spread good values and prevent evil.” He decided to take a firm stand against Yazid, the tyrant of the time. The timeless words of his grandfather Muhammad (saww) echoed in his heart, and Hussain (A.S.) knew what he had to do “the greatest stand is to speak the word of truth in face of the tyrant.” He sacrificed his life, his family, friends and companions for social justice. His selfless sacrifice gave him the title “savior of humanity”
Dr. Radha Krishnan (Ex-President of India) "Though Imam Hussain (a.s.) gave his life almost 1300 years ago, but his indestructible soul rules the hearts of people even today."
Dr. Rajendra Prasad writes, “The sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S.) is not limited to one country, or nation, but it is the hereditary state of the brotherhood of all mankind.”
Charles Dickens (English novelist) “If Husain (A.S.) had fought to quench his worldly desires…then I do not understand why his sister, wife, and children accompanied him. It stands to reason therefore, that he sacrificed purely for Islam.
The tragedy of Karbala speaks volumes about the humanitarian sacrifice of Hussain (a.s.). Even today every year millions of heart reach out for Hussain (A.S.) and march towards Karbala to mark ashura and arbaeen. And after 1400 years the world today again need a Hussain. To stand firm against the oppression, to call for justice, care for orphans, and most importantly to RESTORE THE FAITH IN HUMANITY.
