Hussain (P) was born less than a year after the birth of his brother, Hassan(P). There are numerous narrations about how his name was chosen, one of the most famous ones of which says that the name Hussain (P) was chosen due to the similarity of the relation between Prophet Muhammad (P) and Imam Ali (P) on the one hand and Prophet Moses (P) and Aaron(P) on the other hand. In this narration by Sheikh Tusi, with authentic narration documents reaching Imam Reza (P), it has been said that during the first days after the birth of Imam Hussain (P), the Archangel Gabriel attended the presence of the Exalted Prophet (P) and said, “AlmightyAllah, the Most Sacred, sends you greetings and says, ‘Since Ali (P) for you is like Aaron (P) for Moses (P) it would be appropriate to call this newborn son in the name of Aaron’s younger son Shobair - which is pronounced Hussain in Arabic” After receiving this divine message, the Exalted Prophet (P) went to the house of Lady Zahra (P) and asked his gracious daughter and his son in law Ali (P), “Have you chosen a name for this newborn son?” Ali (P) replied, “We would never do so before you would suggest a name for him.” Then the Messenger of Allah (P)then told to name him Hussain.
